Some will say that this was just another “Crazy Joe” moment. But I’m not convinced.
It’s clear from observing the last two years that the far Left heavily influences the rhetoric coming out of the White House.
It isn’t just on guns. You name the political issue and the Biden Administration is now taking the most radical position they deem politically advisable. A far cry from the Joe Biden of old.
Sure, he’s always been a Democrat. But he is sounding less like the moderate he once billed himself to be and more like the far fringes of the Democratic Party.
The latest example was President Biden’s bizarre rant against those who purchase “semi-automatic weapons.”
“The idea we still allow semi-automatic weapons to be purchased is sick. It’s just sick” said Biden. “It has no, no social redeeming value. Zero. Not a single, solitary rationale for it except profit for the gun manufacturers.”
Anti-gun politicians are constantly telling us that they aren’t coming for our hunting rifles or shotguns. They only want to take “weapons of war” off the streets, they claim.
But then in a moment of honesty the President of the United States lumps all semi-automatic firearms with so-called “assault weapons.”
Biden has called repeatedly for an “assault weapons” ban over the last two years. His latest remarks show where he wants to take this demand.

This is a dramatic escalation of rhetoric and it comes on the heels of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau working with his Liberal government to enact a similar ban.
Trudeau had already taken action to ban “assault weapons” back in 2020, but his Liberal Party is now looking to expand that ban to include any semi-automatic rifle or shotgun capable of holding more than five rounds.
It might be easy to laugh off Biden’s latest rant as just another gaffe, but I think that would be a mistake.
Yes, it is unlikely for Congress to send an “assault weapons” ban to Biden’s desk anytime soon. Democrat U.S. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut, one of the loudest gun control proponents in Washington, D.C., has admitted as much.
But should we write off an attempt by the Biden Administration to “go it alone” with an ATF regulation banning so-called “assault weapons” by executive fiat?
We’ve already seen the ATF, during the Trump Administration no less, grant itself the authority to declare numerous firearm accessories illegal, specifically those which purportedly increase the rate of fire.
The U.S. Supreme Court has yet to take up a challenge to the constitutionality of these ATF regulations.
While the Bruen decision was a huge moment in the battle for the Second Amendment, we have yet to see the full fruit of it and it will ultimately take subsequent court rulings to knock down gun control regimes across the country.
The Biden Administration has already shown a willingness to push the limits of constitutionality and even waltz up to the line of defying the Supreme Court. It’s hardly out of character for them to try something radical and far-reaching on guns.
