Google blasted for disrespecting Memorial Day

Social media users pointed out on Monday that Google’s homepage had a muted logo on Memorial Day. “It is semi hidden so as not to offend those who do not believe that the USA is the greatest nation in the world,” said one commenter.

Users who opened the web on May 29, 2023, found a plain gray logo on Google’s home page. This stripped-down Memorial Day “tribute” sparked severe criticism on social media.

Google is known for its commemorative temporary logos called “Doodles.” They usually last a day on certain holidays or for notable events and historical figures. But the Memorial Day logo angered many conservatives.

People on Twitter pointed out the contrast of typically bright, in-your-face, and often animated logos for things like “Pride” and other woke celebrations.

As you can see, @Google felt it was extremely important to honor the fallen on #MemorialDay.

Pay attention to what their homepage will look like on June 1 though.

These are the mega-corporations that the GOPe still believes we should cater to? I’m a hard no on that.

It’s true that clicking on the gray logo took users to a Memorial Day page adorned with poppies.

Look I don't like Google as much as the next guy, but this is straight up false. The Grey is to mourn those who have passed in serving our great nation. They even have an American Flag below the search bar.

Oh and if you hover over the Google Logo it says “Memorial Day 2023”

But many people saw that as covering a celebration of America’s veterans behind clicks.

A lot of people have complained that LGBT “celebrations” are no longer confined to the month of June but constantly in everyone’s faces. Things like the Dylan Mulvaney and Bud Light controversy and Target’s backlash over trans-friendly swimsuits are regularly promoted in the public eye, including by Google.

Just a few days ago on May 22, the Google Doodle displayed an LGBT and trans flag to celebrate Barbara May Cameron's 69th Birthday. Cameron was a Native American LGBT activist who died in 2002.

Sheer disrespect

Hey @google:

Here’s a hint: 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

One commenter said, “The tribute is there if you click it. It is semi hidden so as not to offend those who do not believe that the USA is the greatest nation in the world.”

However, that is exactly what many conservatives seem to be angry about. A reply to the comment said, “Do they hide the pride stuff too?” Pointing out that Google doesn’t seem worried about offending conservatives or religious people who may object to rainbow covered LGBT tributes.

Funny how @Google thinks using grey honors those who served, but put up the full banner of GAY PRIDE & Trans rhetoric for days on end. Google is UnAmerican. There are so many other alternatives to Google. Just like Bud & all the other woke A-holes, stop giving them your business.
