The headquarters for the Republican Party of New Mexico were damaged in an arson and vandalism attack on Sunday, the third time in eight years the building has been targeted.

The organization said in a statement that the entryway of their headquarters, which is located in Albuquerque, was destroyed “in a deliberate act of arson” fueled by “hatred and intolerance.” The words “ICE = KKK” were spray painted onto the building in addition to substantial damage.

“This is not an isolated incident. It is part of a disturbing pattern of politically motivated violence that has plagued our country, fueled in part by the silence and implicit encouragement from progressive leaders who refuse to condemn these acts,” the Republican Party of New Mexico said in the statement about the incident. “Their failure to stand against political violence has created an environment where attacks like this are not only possible but increasingly frequent.

“We will emerge from this stronger, more united, and more determined to fight for the people of New Mexico and the future of our country,” the statement continued. “Our fight is not just for our party: it’s for every New Mexican who wants a safer, freer, and more accountable state.”

Albuquerque Fire Rescue said on social media that the fire was “brought under control within five minutes” of firefighters arriving on the scene. The headquarters “suffered damage to the front entryway and smoke damage throughout the building,” but no firefighters were injured.

The arson attack indeed comes as leftist protesters target Tesla, the electric car company led by Elon Musk, as the recipient of arson and vandalism incidents. The multibillionaire has received leftist backlash for leading Trump administration government efficiency efforts in recent months.
