About half of Protestant churches in the United States are reporting growth in their congregation size in the years after lockdowns and other public health mandates disrupted church operations.
Lifeway revealed in a new survey that according to pastors, churches are “almost evenly split between those that have grown within the past two years and those that are plateaued or declining,” with some 52% increasing service attendance by at least 4% in the past two years.
There are meanwhile 33% of churches remaining within plus or minus 4% of worship service attendance over the past two years, while the remaining 15% have seen declines of at least 4%.
