Former President Donald Trump released three endorsements for leadership at the Republican National Committee, including one for Lara Trump, his daughter-in-law, as co-chair of the entity.

The calls for change in leadership occur as current Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel appears imminently poised for resignation. McDaniel, who has served in her current position since 2017, has faced backlash from within the Republican Party for poor fundraising and electoral outcomes. Trump released a statement on Monday asserting that the RNC must “be a good partner” in the upcoming election.

“It must do the work we expect from the national Party and do it flawlessly,” he said. “That means helping to ensure fair and transparent elections across the country, getting out the vote everywhere, even in parts of the country where it won’t be easy, and working with my campaign, as the Republican presumptive nominee for President, to win this election.”

Trump endorsed Michael Whatley, the chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, to become the next leader of the Republican National Committee: “Michael has been with me from the beginning, has done a great job in his home state of North Carolina, and is committed to election integrity, which we must have to keep fraud out of our election so it can’t be stolen.”

Trump also endorsed his “very talented daughter-in-law” Lara Trump, who is married to Eric Trump, to serve as co-chair. “Lara is an extremely talented communicator and is dedicated to all that MAGA stands for,” he continued. “She has told me she wants to accept this challenge.”

The likely Republican nominee, who will face former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley in her home state primary next week, also endorsed Chris LaCivita to serve as chief operating officer for the Republican National Committee, saying that the move would be necessary to make the entity a “fighting machine” that can use “all the tools available to win for the American people.”

The nominations from Trump are an apparent effort to increase loyalty within the national Republican political organ. Members of the Republican National Committee will vote on the candidates should McDaniel resign, but they are expected to support the preferences of Trump.
