Trump vows enforcement actions over men in California female sports

Department of Education officials unveiled the conclusion of Title IX investigations into the California Department of Education, finding that the agency is discriminating against women and girls by allowing males to compete against them in sports.

 

The state has prevented “equality of opportunity by allowing males in girls’ sports and intimate spaces,” a violation of Title IX in the Education Amendments of 1972, which requires schools to “ensure equal opportunities for girls, including in athletic activities.”

 

“Although Governor Gavin Newsom admitted months ago it was ‘deeply unfair’ to allow men to compete in women’s sports,” Education Secretary Linda McMahon said in a statement, “both the California Department of Education and the California Interscholastic Federation continued as recently as a few weeks ago to allow men to steal female athletes’ well-deserved accolades.”
