We have heard that President-Elect Donald Trump is a “threat to our democracy.”
On more occasions than any of us can count, the legacy media and other establishment interests have breathlessly told us that Trump will overthrow our “democratic norms.”
But when the Democrats do not receive what they want, or when they have a sudden influx of power, they suddenly have no problem with subverting “our democracy.”
‘Democrats’ do not like ‘Democracy.’
Most recently the Senate Democrats introduced a bill to abolish the Electoral College, saying they are “restoring democracy” by considering the popular vote alone for electing the President.
That move comes shortly after they lost the popular vote, but also after they were decisively defeated in the Electoral College, pointing to an electoral map they now cannot easily win.
This bill to abolish the Electoral College, in other words, is not driven by principle.
This effort is driven by a brazen desire for power.
If instead the Republicans had proposed the legislation after the Democrats decisively won the Electoral College, then the Democrats would be screaming nonstop about how Republicans are mounting a “threat to democracy” in our nation.
‘Our Democracy’ is code for ‘Our Power.’
The word “democracy” is a useful word that simply means anything that corresponds with the agenda of the Democrats and their various allies or interests.
That is why the same Democrats who complain about the violation of “democratic norms” can propose packing the Supreme Court or adding Puerto Rice to gain more seats in the Senate.
Democrats are not motivated by principle. They are motivated by power, and they are willing to lie and shift goalposts to make sure they always have a grasp on that power.
