Vice President Kamala Harris has struggled throughout her campaign to win over men, even as former President Donald Trump has a commanding lead over the demographic.
Even before President Joe Biden dropped out of the race, the media started calling this year the “boys versus girls election,” observing the difference in tone and policy priorities of the two sides. As the media noted, men are more likely to appreciate the “chest-beating macho” of Trump as he dodges assassins, takes mugshots, and calls for policies like mass deportations.
You have two choices this year.
‘Joy and Brat,’ or ‘You Have To Go Back.’
Yet many progressives have scratched their heads in recent weeks as they attempt to determine why this is happening. David Hogg, a leading youth gun control activist, has some thoughts that ironically prove exactly why Democrats are struggling to attract men.
Hogg noted on social media that if the Democrats lose this year, that will be because of “the number of young men of all races that are no longer Democrats,” observing that there has been “a taboo about talking about this” within progressive circles.
But he added that not making men a “main point of conversation” is understandable “given we have been for thousands of years.” Hogg concluded by pointing to the “epidemic of male loneliness in this country and the ensuing commodification through social media of misogyny” as the ultimate reason why the Democrats are failing to connect with young men.
In other words, according to Hogg, men do not support Democrats because they are evil.
‘It’s not me, it's you.’
But this shows exactly why Democrats are failing to connect with men.
The only message our culture has for men, and especially for young men, is an insistence that they mute their ambition, unless they be found guilty of “toxic masculinity.”
Hogg instead recommended that Democrats should “provide positive examples of what actual masculinity looks like that is not defined by putting down women or other people.”
Good luck with that.
Take a look at the men Democrats have in leadership.
There is Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz, who has been content to let himself be cast as a corny Midwestern boomer who only exists to play second fiddle to Harris.
There is Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, who once had an affair with the nanny of his children, impregnated her, and possibly even paid for the baby to be aborted.
There is also Hogg himself, whose tone surrounding gun confiscation is notoriously shrill, and who by the appearance of his arms looks like he has never seen the inside of a gym in his entire short life.
White Men for Harris?
More like Weak Men for Harris.
Trump is by no means a paragon of virtue, but the Democrats are the exact opposite of virtue.
Their figureheads are effeminate and entirely lacking in strength of any kind.
They also cannot keep themselves from hating men and true masculinity, even when they are trying to explain why men are utterly repulsed by them.
That is why they are losing men, and will continue to lose men.
