The reelection campaign for President Joe Biden is seeking to hire a diversity, equity, and inclusion director who will earn between $95,000 and $120,000 per year.

The job listing posted on employment platform Daybook says the hire will be responsible for all “strategy and programming” with respect to DEI and support “existing diverse campaign staff,” as well as reporting on “the campaign’s diversity efforts, leveraging best in class tools including developing an internal dashboard to support data analysis and reporting.” The position will be based in Wilmington, Delaware, the headquarters of the Biden reelection campaign.

“The DEI director will focus on creating and executing a comprehensive strategy to attract and support diverse talent to further the campaign’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion,” the job listing continues. “They will also be responsible for upskilling and further educating campaign staff around DEI. The focus is strategic and programmatic in nature.”

Other workplaces pay substantially higher for diversity directors: the current national average is between $138,000 and $244,000 per year, according to one estimate from Glassdoor.

Biden has also promoted DEI in the federal workforce, signing an executive order during his first year in office which sought to make the federal government a “model for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.” The order required agencies to report on their progress with diversifying their workforces in accordance with race, sex, and other identity groups.

Movements in favor of DEI continue to face criticism for promoting the notion that members of minority identity groups have inherent barriers to success in leading institutions. News of the Biden campaign seeking to implement the philosophy into their workforce comes as another analysis claims to have debunked longstanding research from consulting firm McKinsey and Company that asserts diverse executive workforces are associated with higher corporate profits.
