London Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley threatened to extradite Elon Musk and other American citizens for their social media posts as the United Kingdom experiences riots.

Several protests have occurred across the United Kingdom in recent weeks after the stabbing of three children by the teenaged son of Rwandan immigrants. Rowley vowed in an interview with Sky News that law enforcement would penalize online speech deemed to be “stirring up racial hatred” amid the protests, even if individuals are committing the purported offenses in other countries.

“We will throw the full force of the law at people, whether you’re in this country committing crimes on the streets or committing crimes from further afield online,” Rowley asserted.

When asked about Musk, who has been commenting on the protests from social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, the official said that “being a keyboard warrior does not make you safe from the law.” He added that “you can be guilty of offenses of incitement, of stirring up racial hatred, there are numerous terrorist offenses regarding the publishing of material.”

Musk, who was born in South Africa and has been an American citizen for more than two decades, indeed accused British authorities of implementing a two-tiered justice system that cracks down on native British citizens but does not sufficiently penalize immigrants for violent crimes.

“All of those offenses are in play if people are provoking hatred and violence on the streets, and we will come after those individuals just as we will physically confront on the streets the thugs and the yobs who are causing the problems for communities,” Rowley added to Sky News.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer likewise promised to counter offenders who “participate in violence online and offline,” vowing that they would “face the full force of the law.”
