British prosecutors have charged Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate with rape and human trafficking offenses, with the Crown Prosecution Service revealing that they filed twenty-one total counts against the controversial brothers last year.
Andrew Tate faces ten charges related to three women, while Tristan Tate faces eleven charges connected to one woman. European Arrest Warrants have been issued for their extradition to the United Kingdom. The legal process, however, requires completion of ongoing Romanian proceedings first.
A spokesperson from the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed the serious allegations, saying that “we can confirm that we have authorised charges against Andrew and Tristan Tate for offences including rape, human trafficking, controlling prostitution, and actual bodily harm against three women.”
The charges followed a formal evidence submission from Bedfordshire Police earlier this month. While the brothers remain under investigation in Romania, where authorities initially detained them in 2022, no trial date has yet been set in that jurisdiction. Romanian officials lifted their travel restrictions several months ago, creating tension and uncertainty about their legal status.
The Tate brothers have consistently denied wrongdoing. They claim the charges stem from political motivation rather than actual criminal conduct.
British prosecutors appear particularly concerned about public commentary potentially affecting the case. “It is extremely important that there be no reporting, commentary, or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings,” the agency added.
