Eric Swalwell releases ad showing woman arrested for abortion

Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) released an ad portraying women prosecuted for abortion. This hasn’t happened even in states where abortion is now largely illegal, however, the DOJ is currently prosecuting peaceful pro-life protestors.

California congressman Eric Swalwell (D) and his team released an ad just ahead of the midterms showing women arrested for having abortions.

“MAGA Republicans want women arrested for having an abortion. This is what that looks like.  #LockHerUp,” Swalwell tweeted.

The ad was titled “Lock Her Up,” and portrayed a woman being arrested in front of her family while her husband is held at gunpoint.  It stated that people should “vote Democrat” to “stop Republicans from criminalizing abortion everywhere.”

No current U.S. law would send women to prison, not even in states where abortion is largely illegal.

"I wish I could say it's an exaggeration, but these things could escalate very quickly," Swalwell said when asked about his ad.

Ben Kew, an editor at El American, called out Swalwell over his remarks. “I don’t think there is a single Republican candidate running for national office that has suggested arresting women for having abortions. Oh well. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!”

Despite Swalwell’s fictitious claims, people are being arrest in the fight over abortion.

The FBI is arresting and prosecuting peaceful pro-life activists, including an 87 year old concentration camp survivor who has dedicated her life to ending abortion.   A father of eleven was also arrested in front of his children for peacefully protesting in front of an abortion clinic.

“The FBI has arrested 22 pro-life Americans for peacefully protesting abortion, but still hasn’t arrested a single person for firebombing pregnancy centers and burning down churches,” @LifeNewsHQ tweeted.

Swalwell is no stranger to controversy. As a member of the House Foreign Intelligence Committee, he was implicated in an intimate relationship with a Christine Fang, a suspected Chinese spy who cultivated contacts with politicians from California and across the nation and whom the Chinese government believed had promising futures in US politics.
