Some Republican lawmakers in New Jersey broke with the majority of their party to propose new gun control measures, which caused backlash from other Republicans in the Garden State.
New Jersey Republican Assemblywoman Michele Matsikoudis and New Jersey Republican Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz introduced a variety of gun control bills last fall, such as statutes targeting homemade firearms and intensifying penalties on crimes involving firearms, according to a report from local news. The legislation has since been largely adopted by Democrats.
