Trump administration officials arrested one current and one former judge this week for allegedly assisting illegal aliens and helping them to evade arrest from federal immigration officials.
Judge Hannah Dugan, who has served on the Wisconsin Circuit Court for the Milwaukee Circuit through the past decade, was arrested by the FBI and indicted for allegedly “obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week,” according to a statement from FBI Director Kash Patel.
“We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject, an illegal alien, to evade arrest,” Patel said of the case. “Thankfully, our agents chased down the perp on foot and he’s been in custody since, but the Judge’s obstruction created increased danger to the public.”
ICE went to the courthouse with a warrant to arrest Flores Ruiz, after which Dugan allegedly took him through a juror door and out the courtroom, an apparent attempt to help him escape.
Judge Jose Cano, who recently resigned from serving as a magistrate in Dona Ana County, New Mexico, and his wife were arrested for allegedly harboring Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, an illegal alien from Venezuela and alleged Tren De Aragua gang member, in their home.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem commented in another statement that hundreds of Tren De Aragua members have been arrested in recent months, adding that “if you are here illegally and break the law, we will hunt you down, arrest you, and lock you up.”
The arrests of judicial officials come weeks after Border Czar Tom Homan cautioned that the Trump administration would impose charges on individuals allegedly harboring illegal aliens.
“Nobody should be surprised by the arrest of two judges,” Homan reacted. “I have said many times within the past few months that people can choose to support illegal immigration and not assist ICE in removing criminal illegal aliens from our communities, but don’t cross that line.”
