The Democratic Party is conducting what they are calling an “after-action review” of their 2024 electoral catastrophe, but with one tiny catch. They are deliberately avoiding the elephant-sized corpse in the room: their own presidential campaign.
The DNC political autopsy will studiously avoid asking whether former President Joe Biden should have run for reelection, whether he should have dropped out earlier, or whether former Vice President Kamala Harris was the right replacement.
The coroner refuses to examine the body.
This is like investigating the Titanic disaster while refusing to acknowledge icebergs exist, or diagnosing a patient while ignoring the arrow sticking out of his chest. But at least they are thorough about everything else.
“We are not interested in second-guessing campaign tactics or decisions of campaign operatives,” said Jane Kleeb, the Nebraska Democratic chairwoman. “We are interested in what voters turned out for Republicans and Democrats, and how we can fix this moving forward.”
