We have heard for decades from smug liberals that immigrants merely take the positions in the economy that Americans are simply too lazy or even too unintelligent to take themselves.
Such rhetoric is deployed against opponents of unfettered illegal immigration and excessive legal immigration, brushing away their concerns about the loss of opportunities for Americans.
But those concerns are well-founded, according to new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which showed that 88% of new employment growth in recent years indeed went to immigrants.
That is absolutely shocking.
In the past five years, both illegal aliens and legal immigrants, jointly called the foreign-born, accounted for the vast majority of job growth, even as record numbers of American men were removed from the labor force, according to an analysis from the Center for Immigration Studies.
The think tank found that 4.7 million jobs went to the foreign-born, while some 60% of those positions went to illegal aliens. In the last year, foreign-born employment rose by 1.9 million.
There is a clear incentive for American companies to hire foreign-born workers, whether they are unskilled or skilled, illegal or legal. They do not demand the same lifestyle as Americans, meaning that they can be paid for much less while providing a slightly lower quality of work.
In spite of what the liberals would have us believe, there are deep consequences linked to this trend, especially as American men are priced out of the labor force and are left in despair.
“The long-term increase in men not in the labor force is linked to profound social problems, such as crime and overdose deaths,” the analysis cautioned. “Bringing in so many legal and illegal immigrants reduces job prospects for American men. Equally important, relying on immigration to fill jobs allows employers and policymakers to ignore this enormous problem.”
They would rather replace us.
Most of the rhetoric that comes from liberals on immigration is simply nonsense or propaganda.
The mass importing of foreign-born people inevitably has an impact on the native population of our country, and pretending otherwise merely worsens the problems our native population faces.
Many liberals cloak their support of mass immigration in the language of love and tolerance, but we must recognize that the people already in this country are by no means feeling the love.
