Gabbard launches task force to ‘end weaponization’ of the intelligence community

The newly formed Director’s Initiatives Group launched by Gabbard will examine the ways in which intelligence agencies have been targeted at citizens and remove “deep-seated politicization.”

The task force will also lead efforts to declassify “information that serves a public interest,” such as records about the assassination of the late President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. File Image.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced a task force to “end weaponization of government against Americans” as well as to “restore trust in the intelligence community.”

 

The newly formed Director’s Initiatives Group launched by Gabbard will examine the ways in which intelligence agencies have been targeted at citizens, remove “deep-seated politicization,” and expose “unauthorized disclosures of classified intelligence” made in recent years.

 

“We are already identifying wasteful spending in real time, streamlining outdated processes, reviewing documents for declassification, and leading ongoing efforts to root out abuses of power and politicization,” Gabbard said in a statement about the new transparency initiative.
