Vice President Kamala Harris unveiled her campaign platform after weeks of criticism directed at the Democratic nominee asserting that she has not clearly communicated with voters.

The new campaign platform emphasizes passing progressive economic policies and codifying “fundamental freedoms” such as abortion and so-called same-sex marriage. The platform repeatedly juxtaposes her proposals with Project 2025, a set of conservative policies created by the Heritage Foundation but nevertheless disavowed by former President Donald Trump.

“Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are fighting for a New Way Forward that protects our fundamental freedoms, strengthens our democracy, and ensures every person has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead,” the campaign platform website asserted.

The economic section of her platform includes promises to expand child tax credits, increase taxes on the wealthy, raise corporate taxes, enact a federal ban on price gouging, and introduce new actions to address purported climate change. The platform also vows that Harris will protect abortion at the federal level by signing a bill to “restore reproductive freedom nationwide,” as well as “enshrine anti-discrimination protections” for homosexuals and transgenders.

The campaign platform likewise emphasizes gun control policies such as red flag gun confiscation laws, prohibitions on high-capacity magazines, and universal background checks.

Democrats have been criticized over the past four years over calls for defunding the police and for overseeing elevated levels of illegal immigration. The platform seeks to address both phenomena by vowing that Harris will “invest in funding law enforcement” and will enact “smart solutions to secure the border, keep communities safe, and reform our broken immigration system.”
