Hurricane Helene destroyed much of North Carolina several weeks ago.
The news cycle has regrettably moved elsewhere, especially amid a turbulent election season and a new incoming administration, but thousands remain without homes.
FEMA is apparently moving elsewhere as well. The federal disaster relief agency has now shuttered at least four disaster recovery centers in western North Carolina, a move which comes after the withdrawal of the National Guard from the area. There are some 5,000 families who are slated to lose FEMA hotel vouchers even as the Christmas season nears.
They must be on the federal naughty list.
President Joe Biden is nowhere near that crisis.
He is not in North Carolina. He is not in Delaware. He is not even at the White House. He is instead in Africa doing none other than handing out natural disaster assistance.
Our commander-in-chief unveiled $1 billion worth of “new humanitarian support for Africans displaced from homes by historic droughts and food insecurity” during a trip to Angola.
He also announced that they are “engaged in a major joint project to close the infrastructure gap” across Africa, apparently forgetting, or willfully ignoring, the reality that major roads and highways were completely destroyed across the American heartland by Hurricane Helene.
Africa first. Asheville last. America never.
The fact that Biden is overseas at all while such a poorly managed crisis continues in our homeland should be a scandal. The fact that Biden is handing out disaster money like candy to corrupt foreign nations while our own people suffer is even more shameful.
Elected leaders are chosen mainly to serve their own nations and peoples.
They may have opportunities to make alliances with other countries and even help their people in certain situations, but never at the expense of those they have the duty to serve.
Biden and his Democratic handlers either refuse to understand this reality or ignore this reality for subversive and sinister reasons. But at this point there is absolutely zero mystery as to why they are losing the political loyalty of the very people they refuse to serve.
