Star Wars used to be a beloved science fiction franchise.
Countless millions of people around the world have wonderful memories of attending the premieres of the original or prequel movies with their families and friends.
Star Wars used to center on the battle between light and darkness.
But woke film producers at Disney have confounded those two categories since they purchased the franchise, pumping out an endless stream of uncompelling slop as a result.
Now wokeness is coming to destroy yet another binary.
I have a bad feeling about this.
Two years ago Disney introduced a character named Sister, who is apparently the first transgender stormtrooper, and that character made an appearance in a newly released book.
One chapter in the new book tells readers that Sister “expressed her gender identity differently than her fellow troopers” and had to “hide who she truly was inside” until fellow stormtroopers “gave her the name Sister as a constant reminder that she belonged.”
The character appears to have pink and blue stormtrooper armor, apparently mimicking the colors of the transgender flag used by activists right here in our own galaxy.
A disturbance in the force.
Star Wars has been ruined every time progressive ideologies are introduced.
Disney should have learned their lesson by now. But they sincerely appear to be more interested in pushing their favorite ideologies rather than actually turning a profit.
Just consider the recent example of The Acolyte, which was marketed to the public as “arguably the gayest” rendition of Star Wars ever, and was packed with social justice themes. The show had lesbians who led a coven of witches and made their own child with dark magic.
The Acolyte was the worst-performing Star Wars show in a long series of flops for the franchise. The show received a 78% review from critics but a dismal 18% review from audiences.
They find our lack of faith disturbing.
Disney will continue to waste money on Star Wars until they stop pumping wokeness into the franchise once beloved by so many everyday Americans, not merely the handful of activists who fantasize about becoming a transgender stormtrooper or leading a lesbian witch coven.
By all indications, Disney now knows they lose money when they follow this course, but they would rather force evil ideologies down our throats than operate a real business.
The dark side is strong with them.
