Former Vice President Kamala Harris accepted the NAACP Chairman’s Award over the weekend after her electoral loss, marking her first public appearance since the campaign.
Harris delivered a speech at the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday evening in which she accepted the prize. The former running mate for President Joe Biden who assumed his place as the Democratic nominee criticized President Donald Trump and Elon Musk in her remarks.
“While we have no illusions about what we are up against in this chapter in our American story, this chapter will be written not simply by whoever occupies the oval office nor by the wealthiest among us: the American story will be written by you, written by us, by we the people,” she said.
