The administration of President Donald Trump announced that they would offer $1,000 cash payments to illegal aliens who decide to leave the country through the CBP Home mobile app.

CBP One was an application that allowed foreigners to schedule appointments at ports of entry under former President Joe Biden, after which the foreigners were paroled on two-year grants. Trump had shuttered the program within minutes of taking office, but his administration revealed that CBP One has since been updated to become CBP Home and aid with mass deportations.

In the latest update to the program, illegal aliens who choose to self-deport will now receive $1,000 payments from the Department of Homeland Security and will have their airfare covered.

The agency estimated that the program will reduce costs for taxpayers, since deporting the typical illegal alien costs $17,000 to the Department of Homeland Security. The cost for illegal aliens to remove themselves through CBP Home is now expected to be a total of $4,500.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said on social media that “if you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest, and most cost effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest,” as well as the “safest option for our law enforcement” that handles deportations.

The agency added that the “first use of travel assistance has already proven successful,” since an illegal alien permitted to enter the country under Biden used the program to acquire a ticket from Chicago to the country of Honduras. There are more flights booked in the coming weeks.

Customs and Border Protection had allowed substantial numbers of foreigners to enter the United States through CBP One from countries like Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

Vice President JD Vance previously called the existence of CBP One “the most underreported scandal” under the Biden administration over the past four years. Biden oversaw record levels of illegal immigration under his administration, a trend which has largely halted under Trump.
