Oregon Governor will ‘hold the line’ on diversity and inclusion

Oregon Democratic Governor Tina Kotek vowed last week that she would defend diversity, equity, and inclusion amid efforts from the Trump administration to eliminate such programs.

 

After officials at the federal Education Department reminded state governments that the Civil Rights Act bars the use of federal funds for discriminatory initiatives, Kotek issued a statement announcing that she told the Oregon Department of Education to “hold the line” on the issue.
