Texas Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett faces a censure motion in the House after she mocked Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott over the weekend for using a wheelchair.

Crockett appeared to mock Abbott during remarks at an event for the Human Rights Campaign, a prominent homosexual and transgender lobbying group, by giving him the name “Governor Hot Wheels.” Abbott has used a wheelchair since the age of twenty-six, when a tree fell on him while he was outside on a run, meaning that he has been in the wheelchair for four decades.

“We in these hot a— Texas streets, honey,” Crockett said. “We got Governor Hot Wheels down there, come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a— mess, honey!”

Crockett released a statement Tuesday claiming she was not thinking about his condition, but about the “planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by black mayors,” a reference to Abbott sending illegal aliens to sanctuary cities outside of Texas.

Abbott responded to the “Governor Hot Wheels” comment by noting the broader crisis in the Democratic Party: “It’s another day and another disaster by the Democrats. The reality is they have no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it.”

Texas Republican Representative Randy Weber meanwhile revealed via social media that he would introduce a censure resolution to denounce Crockett over her remarks about Abbott.

The successful censure of Crockett would mark the second such move this month. Members of the House also voted to censure Texas Democratic Representative Al Green for his outbursts during the speech President Donald Trump recently delivered to a joint session of Congress.
